Lot Essay
The saw is presumably a badge of office for an officer or warden in the Guild of Carpenters and symbolises the wardenship of Don Antonio Rodri Portillo in 1772.

A Spanish silver-gilt model of a double-sided saw
Possibly Catalan, late 18th century
The two baluster-shaped sides cast with foliage and with pierced foliate bar between, with frog finial and rope-twist handle, the toothed saw attached to base of the sides, the bar engraved with an inscription, marked on bar

The inscription reads, 'Schiso Siendo Maioxdomo. D:b Antonio Radxi.s y Poxtillo. Ano. de. 1772'
