Lot Essay

A closely similar chair is illustrated in Dr B Cotton, The English Regional Chair, Woodbridge, 1990, p.83, fig.TV170. It is interesting to note that this form of horizontal splat is very similar to that used by the Prior family of Uxbridge, but in the vertical position.
