Gothic splat windsor chairs were considered to be 'best' windsor seating furniture and arguably the peak of windsor design, always being made in yew timber. Setting the Gothic splats within the conventional bow back, as opposed to the pointed arch back, creates a more subtle and less obvious Gothic form.
