Close in composition to a drawing depicting the same view in the Louvre, although slightly extended to the right and with variations in the figures (M. Kiene, Panini, exhib. cat., Paris, Musée du Louvre, and elsewhere, 1993, no. 45). The Louvre drawing, from Mariette's collection, has been dated to the last decade of Panini's life.
