One of a series of compositions depicting a satyr abducting a nymph (G. Bazin, op. cit., nos. 1301, 1304, 1603 and 1308). A tracing of the present drawing is in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Rouen (G. Bazin, op. cit, no. 1309). The first drawing was executed in Rome in 1817, while Bazin dates the rest of the series slightly later.
