signed, dated and inscribed 'Vögel. Tab. A. Zötl pinx am 2 October 1844. Der Strauss Struthio camelus. Das Vaterland der Strausse ist Africka und der an dasselbe granzende Theil von Asien. Ist der grösste Vogel der Erde, zehn auch sieben Fuss hoch. Synonime: Camelvogel, elephantenvogel.' [The home of the ostrich is Africa, and also of part of Asia.
