LA JOTA
With Randy Dunn as their first winemaker and the rugged terroir of the Howell Mountain appellation, early vintages of La Jota were impressive, though at times frightfully tannic and not for the faint of palate. Rustic and distinct, La Jota Cabernets have a unique flavor profile of sage, anise and tarry minerals. The separation in 1991 into the reserve Anniversary and regular Howell Mountain lots allowed further differentiation of the hand picked fruit. A shift in style has made the wines more accessible, while maintaining the wine's hallmark depth and concentration through low yields and extended maceration.
