Lot Essay

The obelisk or pyramid shape of this clock, designed in the 'Egyptian' style of the late 18th Century, symbolises eternity. Its case has been bordered with bands of facetted and polished steel beads, an art refined by craftsmen in Vienna as well as the arms workshops of Tula near Moscow.
