A pair of Cantonese ovoid vases and covers
painted and gilt with a continuous scene of butterflies, insects and birds perched on rockwork amongst a profusion of flowers including bamboo, peach sprays, peonies and pomegranates, all between borders of flower sprays, the covers similarly decorated with butterflies and peonies issuing from rockwork -- 13½in. (34.2cm.) high.
