A George III mahogany and inlaid longcase clock, circa 1800
The case with line inlays, hood with outset ringed columns, conch shell inlay above a trunk door flanked by mock cluster columns, above plinth with canted angles, the 14 in. square painted dial with rose spandrels to Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, the centre with subsidiary seconds and date rings and painted with exotic birds, signed BAXTER, brass hands, false plate stamped WHITAKER to the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike on bell -- 86¾ in. (231 cm.) high
