A George III oak longcase clock, circa 1790
The hood with fretwork cresting surmounted by gilt-wood finials and front-fluted columns, the trunk with steep-arched door, the 12 in. wide painted dial with painted flowers within raised gilt borders to the spandrels and arch, Roman and Arabic chapter ring with dot minute track, subsidiary seconds ring and arch date aperture, rubbed signature for Jno. Popplewell/BRIDLINGTON, original steel hands, with false plate to the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement, rack strike and trip repeat on bell -- 91¾ in. (233 cm.) high
