The dish 16th century, the enamelling perhaps later
The central depression enamelled in colours with a coat-of-arms within a gilt band enriched with blue, red and green enamel dots, the folded rim with traces of granular gilding
11 3/8 in. (29 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

A similar dish tentatively identifying the arms as those of the Princes Cantacuzène was sold Sotheby's Olympia, 7th December 2003, lot 1.
