the rectangular case with stepped top with dentil and beehive carved cornice (chipping to both rear corners), with carved flowerheads to the front and floral swag below the dial, on plinth base with stiff leaf border and further foliate carving, on bun feet, the gilt-bronze dial within alternating flowerhead bezel with painted Roman chapters and engine-turned centre, with steel moon hands, the twin going barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell (lacking) -- 14¼in.(36cm.) high
