representing Thomas Box, standing over the wicket and wearing a beaver hat, a tree trunk (spill-holder) behind him, his jacket over a branch, 6½in. (16.5cm.) high, c. 1843.
Pugh F454-455 (plate 1, fig. 3) illustrates the present vase "in the collection of Mr. I.N.R. Shield", categorising it as "very rare" and "desirable".
