the case surmounted by a figure of the young Molière reclining against a balustrade and reading a book, on stepped rectangular plinth with foliate mounts and scroll feet mounted with doves, the white enamel Roman dial with pierced gilt hands signed RAINGO FRERES A PARIS (some cracking and a chip above III), the twin going barrel movement with countwheel strike on bell, French, last quarter 19th century -- 20½in.(52cm.) high
