the case with broken swan neck pediment centred by a ram's head mask, turned columns to the hood, Greek key border to the trunk with foliate carving to the door, fluted pilasters to the sides, on plinth with canted angles and bracket feet, the brass dial with pierced anthemion and scroll spandrels, silvered chapter ring with scroll engraving to the matted centre with calendar aperture and regulation ring, painted moonphase to the arch, with signature to the outside SAMUEL LOMAX BLACKBURN, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement (bell lacking) -- 88½in.(225cm.) high
