Lot Essay

After a picture by van der Kuyl in the Pinacoteca Tosio-Martinengo, Brescia, a version of which was offered at Chritstie's, Rome, 2003 (cf. G. Jansen, B.W. Meijer, P. Squellati Brizio, Repertory of Dutch and Flemish Paintings in Italian Public Collections: II. Lombardy 1 (A-L), Florence, 2001, cat. no. 442, p. 252, illustrated).
