A Picturesque tour along the Rivers Ganges and Jumna in India. London: R. Ackermann, 1824. Large 4° (399 x 305mm). Folding engraved frontispiece map, hand-coloured aquatint title vignette and tailpiece, 24 hand-coloured aquatint plates by G. Hunt and T. Sutherland after Forrest. Contemporary red half morocco and marbled boards, spine gilt, gilt edges (extremities rubbed, corners bumped). Provenance: purchased from H. Sotheran, London, March 1927, for £12 12s.

FINE COPY ON LARGE PAPER. These views by Lt. Col. Forrest of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers are thought to excel those of all other amateur artists, two especially fine plates along the Yamuna being those of the Taj Mahal and the Palace of the King of Delhi. Originally issued in six monthly parts, both small and large paper. Italian and Spanish editions were also published. Abbey Travel 441; Tooley 227.
