Engraved allegorical title-page, text with double-ruled border, with the colophon leaf. Contemporary gilt-ruled vellum, spine titled in manuscript, gilt fleuron at centre and floral device at corners, edges gilt (spine darkened, lacks ties), modern morocco-backed box.

FINE COPY OF THE EXCESSIVELY RARE FIRST EDITION OF THE FIRST BIBLIOGRAPHY ON THE AMERICAS. Although the work is sometimes inaccurate, it gives surprising details of manuscripts and printed books of voyages, navigation and geography by Leon, attorney and historiographer of the councli of the Indias who was born in Peru and studied in Spain.
