Journal d'un Voyage en 1843, 1844, 1845, 1846. Paris: Dauvin et Fontaine, 1848-1853. 3 vols. 8° (223 x 140mm). Tinted lithograph frontispiece in each volume, 1 folding table, 1 tinted lithograph, 1 hand-coloured map of Cape Town. (Scattered spotting in vol.3., remnant of adhesive to half-title) Later green half morocco, original printed wrappers bound-in, deckle edges (wrappers with some spotting and wear to the edges, vol.3 wrappers with repair to edges). Provenance: 'Bibl. D. de M.' (small stamp in red on half title) -- General R. Validable (bookplate on binder's blanks).

Itier was an agronomist from Montpelier attached to a mission to negotiate the Franco-Chinese Treaty with Ch'i-ying. Itier had strong commercial interest and was on close terms with the economist Pao Shih-ch'en. His account includes lengthy observations of Hong Kong. Lust 645.
