YANGTSZE RIVER
An album of photographs, titled 'Yangtsze Gorges' on upper cover [China: no date but circa 1925]. 4° (355 x 340mm). 22 gelatin sliver-print photographs (each 207 x 207mm. approximately) mounted recto only of 22 thin card leaves, the first with manuscript caption in ink to mount. (Some light marginal soiling to mounts.) Original grey/brown thick paper wrappers with red silk bands (small tears and creasing to covers, backstrip defective).
A fine series apparently by a single unidentified photographer, recording a journey up the river in the early 1920s. The images include a mixture of landscapes with views of various riverside buildings and settlements, and scenes including vessels, both Chinese and western, on the river, all provide and interesting record on Chinese life. (22)
