Dixie II, modelled after Dixie, had a hull that was flatter aft and a rounded transom. Moreover, Henry M. Crane's engine design proved to be a giant leap into the future. The engine was designed, built and tested in only 6 months. Between 1907 and 1909 Dixie II won nearly every race she entered, and she entered many. Her hull was modigfied in 1909, and her engine output was increased. Unfortunately, the Dixie II was defeated in the spring regatta at Monaco in 1909 after these changes.
