A RARE PAINTED IVORY FIGURE
17TH 18TH CENTURY, PROBABLY GOANESE
Carved as a standing female supplicant, her long cloak cold-painted in dark turquoise-blue with red and yellow details, her long hair painted brown with gilt traces remaining, her face with a serene expression and her hands held together in prayer, standing on an integral cloud pedestal carved with the face and wings of an angel at the front, set on a fixed wooden base with similar carved clouds below the ivory and a large spherical orb over a low square stand, two bronze 'shooting stars' are applied at either side of the wood clouds, minor old damages
