A large lacquered bronze Hu vase, dated to the 12th year of the Wanli reign, 1585
the rounded globular body cast in relief to either side with dated calligraphic incriptions below an unusual raised white enamel stud pattern border, with twin mythical animal head handles applied to the shoulder, the eyes picked out in white enamel -- 14½in. (36.9cm.) high.
