the bearded figure carved standing with smiling expression, wearing long flowing robes open at the chest and holding a young deer resting on palm leaves in his right hand, the deer pulling at a lighzhi spray held in his other hand, inscriptions to reverse and front with Jing Ye Zhai (studio for venerating the family estate) mark and Yi Chou cyclical date probably relating to 1865 -- 9 3/8in. (23.8cm.) high, carved lacquer stand.
