LOUIS XV111, A RARE ROYALIST BONE BRISE FAN
the tip of the centre stick carved with a profile of the King painted in grey wash, the other sticks pierced with fleurs de lys, the lower sticks pierced and clouté with steel in a serpentine design, the royal blue ribbon gilt with fleurs de lys --6.25in., French, circa 1814, (six sticks broken)

A comparable, but different, fan was sold in the Collection of Fans, the property of an American Museum, sold C.S.K. 20 July 1993, lot 138, a horn brisé fan carved with a profile, possibly the Duke of Wellington --5 < in., circa 1815
