Signed Zeshin (1809-1891), Edo Period (19th Century)
The fine basketwork ground decorated in gold hiramaki-e and usu-niku-takamakie with a teapot and two tea-bowls for the teaceremony in brownish black ishime takamaki-e, the teapot decorated with ho-o, the two teabowls in silver takamaki-e, each with a row of decorative circles in colours of gold, shibuichi, silver and black togidashi-e, with various patterns engraved in harigaki, the wood base with scratched signature, the cover of plain bamboo, the interior in olive green ishime, slight cracking to the lacquer on the interior
