A SATSUMA MOUNTED KATANA and A SHINTO WAKIZASHI
Unsigned, Edo Period (17th Century)
The katana blade honzukuri, iori-mune, shallow toriizori with extended chu-kissaki, forging pattern itame hada with ji-nie, tempered edge midare of nie, chu-maru boshi, o-suriage nakago, 74.4cm., in its black lacquer saya with an extended brasss koiguchi, iron fuchi-kashira chiselled with dragonflies, very small silver tsuba with vertical striations, 19th century; the wakizashi blade honzukuri, iori-mune, toriizori with chu-kissaki, forging pattern ko-itame, hada with ji-nie, tempered edge gunome-midare of ko-nie with tobiyaki, ko-maru boshi, nakago machi-okuri 2-3cm., 43.9cm., signed Bizen Okoyama ju Fujiwara Kunimune, 17th century, in its ishimeji black lacquer saya, shibuichi fuchi-kashira depicting mountains and a pagoda, oval iron tsuba with a sage in shakudo and iron takazogan, sentoku menuki of horses, 19th century (2)
