Throughout motoring history, Mercedes-Benz has been known for their supremely built, highly luxurious saloons. The S-Class range which first launched in the mid-1980s were no exception to this adage and with a choice of engines and generous specification, the model was a sales success right until the early 1990s when an all-new face-lifted model was introduced.

This 420 SEL displaying 138,000 miles on the odometer (at the time of inspection) was originally finished in black livery to compliment the grey leather interior and it provided luxurious and reliable daily transport until 1997 when it came time for an exciting change. Due to the vendor's fondness of the following lot ('The Rainbow Car' Rolls-Royce) it was decided that the trusty Mercedes should offer itself as the basis to form a complimentary brace of such rainbow-liveried vehicles. Using the Rolls-Royce as the blueprint, this Mercedes was sent to a local bodyshop and after $8,000 expenditure the work, which was carried out to an extremely high standard, was complete.

Over the last eight years the Mercedes and Rolls-Royce have resided together in their own double garage and the Mercedes has been regularly serviced and well maintained accordingly. When recently inspected it started promptly and when driven displayed no obvious faults whatsoever, in fact the overall condition both mechanically and otherwise bely the displayed mileage - a testament to both the durability of Mercedes-Benz build quality and the regular maintenance the car has been treated to. Apart from some light parking damage suffered at the rear of the car it is otherwise presented in fine condition throughout.

Bringing much admiration and smiling faces wherever it goes, this cheerful motor car is ready for further happy touring and is expected to be driven to the sale. Offered with the car is a generous history file.
