Lot Essay

In the 1940s in Paris, Rosamond Bernier worked as the features editor for Vogue and became close friends with Cocteau. They frequented the restaurant Véfour, where Cocteau would spontaneously sketch on the back of menus and present them as gifts to his close friends, as in the present lot.
