The door tympanum is designed in the 'Louis Quatorze' Roman fashion popularised around 1700 by the Oeuvres of the architect Daniel Marot (d.1752) and celebrates the Triumph of the Arts. Roman eagles, emblematic of ancient virtue, perch amongst Roman foliage issuing from a medallion framing a krater-vase, which is sculpted with figure and relates to vases illustrated in Marot's, Nouveaux Livre de Vases.
