The folding helmet constructed of four horizontal plates hinged at the sides below the turnbacks and fitted at the back with a chain mail neck guard, the forearm guards constructed of hinged plates and chain mail sewn onto fabric backing, each lacquered glossy black and decorated with a butterfly family crest in gold lacquer, the helmet lacquered with a gold circle "forecrest" above the peak
