Edo-Meiji period (19th century), the first signed Yasuhide (Gyokutosai Yasuhide) and sealed Gyoku and another seal; the second inscribed Masanao (Kyoto); the third with illegible seal
The first a compact carving of a seated sparrow looking to the left, the eyes inlaid in horn and the himotoshi a large and small hole on the underside; the second, a large version of the sparrow looking straight ahead, the eyes inlaid in dark horn and the himotoshi formed by a small hole on the underside connecting with a large hole in the back; the third carved as a snail emerging from its shell, with details lightly stained
