Meiji period (19th century), signed Shorinsai and with kao (cursive monogram)
The slender inro decorated in gold and black raised lacquer with hirame and nashiji highlights against a bright kinji ground with a hawk resting on the trunk of a pine tree, the reverse with two sparrows flying away, interiors nashiji; fitted with a cylindrical soft-metal ojime with a heron on a stump, signed Minkoku and a manju netsuke decorated with a turtle inlaid in shell climbing on a stack of red-lacquer sake cups against a kinji ground, signed Ki in inlaid-shell reserve
