The canted rectangular hinged moulded top enclosing a lead-lined interior with eight bottle divisions, the tapering panelled body with ebonised borders, on paw feet with sunk brass castors, the lock stamped 'GR PATENT', the underside of the lid inscribed '109' and with indistinct cabinet-makers code, with fragment of a cabinet-makers(?) label, repairs to the feet

Lot Essay

The sarcophagus cellaret, with Grecian-stepped and hollow-sided lid and taper-hermed pilasters on Bacchic lion-paws, relates to a pattern issued as The Supplement to the Cabinet-Maker's London Book of Prices, 1805, pl. 1.
