The George III chair with rectangular padded back and seat covered in fawn material, the guilloche-bordered back with curved arms and pearl-carved terminals, on downswept supports and fluted tapering legs, with batten carrying-holes; the Louis XV chair with padded cartouche-shaped back and serpentine padded seat covered in fawn material, the channelled frame with serpentine arms and serpentine supports, on cabriole legs, redecorated (2)

A set of fourteen related Roman tablet back giltwood armchairs was supplied by Thomas Chippendale Senior or Junior to Edwin Lascelles for Harewood House, Yorkshire, circa 1779 (C. Gilbert, The Life and Work of Thomas Chippendale, London, 1978, vol. II, p. 114, fig. 199). A similar set of ten armchairs with a pair of sofas was supplied by Haig & Chippendale in 1789 to Ninian Home for Paxton House, Berwickshire (C. Gilbert, 'Chippendale Senior and Junior at Paxton 1774-1791', Connoisseur, August 1972, p. 264, fig. 20).
