The table, conceived in the George II 'Roman' fashion, has columnar 'candlestand' corners and truss-scrolled legs and 'Venus' shell-enriched legs terminating in 'Jupiter' eagle-claws. These features also appear on a walnut table of the 1730s bearing the label of the St. Paul's Church Yard cabinet-maker Benjamin Crook (fl. 1732-1748) (C. Gilbert, Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, Leeds, 1996, fig. 265).
