Lot Essay

This card-table has a gracefully-waved apron typical of mid-Georgian Irish tables. A closely related card-table, but with squared paw feet, was sold from the Elizabeth Parke Firestone Collection, Christie's, New York, 23 March 1991, lot 796. A side table with similarly serpentined apron and shell, was probably supplied to Thomas and Sophia Tipping for Beaulieu, Co. Louth and is now in a private collection.
