The padded ogee arched back covered in floral gros point Berlin needlework with pierced surround between uprights with finials, the seat with a blind fret quatrefoil carved seat rail, on moulded square tapering legs and block feet

The handsome throne-like seat, gothic pinnacled, cusped and crocketed in the Victorian antiquarian style of the 1840s, has colourful floral needlework upholstery that reflects contemporary enthusiasm for Berlin woolwork, as popularised by the 'decorative draughtsman' Henry Wood's Eighteen Plates for Berlin Woolwork. Related chair patterns were published in E. A. Fleischmann, Kunst-und Gewerbe-Blatt, Munich, 1843.
