Movement signed Johannes Oosterwyk, Amsterdam, early 18th Century; case probably 19th Century
The hood with ebonised later columns, case with later veneers and replaced plinth, the 12 in. square gilt-brass dial square dial with scored outer edge, female mask and foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with sword-hilt half hour and half quarter hour markers, signed Joh. Oosterwyk/Amsterdam, the matted centre with date aperture with engraved border, ringed winding holes and subsidiary silvered seconds ring, probably replaced blued steel hands, the fully latched eight day movement with five ringed pillars, anchor escapement and Dutch rack strike on two bells; case associated to dial and movement; two brass weights, pendulum, crank key
