A Dutch ebonised and brass-mounted astronomical and musical table clock
Circa 1780
The case with two glazed panels and brass handle to each side, the brass dial with gilt foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with silvered sectors for month and day of week, each engraved with appropriate figure and zodiacal symbol, date aperture above, with (later?) vacant oval signature plaque, flanked by selection rings for Speelen/Niet Speelen and Slaan/Niet Slaan, each with painted floral centre, the arch with twelve tune musical selection and painted rolling moonphase, centred by a mock pendulum aperture (later/restored?), blued steel hands, the eight day triple fusee movement with seven pillars, verge escapement, Dutch strike on two bells (one to front and one to side) and music on thirteen bells via a 24.5 cm. long pinned cylinder positioned across the top of a florally engraved back plate, trip repeats for strike and music
