**A FINELY CARVED IVORY FIVE-PANEL TABLE SCREEN
19TH CENTURY
Each panel carved in intricate, high relief with court ladies accompanied by attendants at various pursuits in garden and landscape settings, those in the central panel conversing while in one of the side panels a woman holding a brush sits at a painting table draped with a scroll, with panels of angular scroll below and further conjoined angular scrolls in the separately made superstructure and spandrels projecting from the sides of the end panels, with similar scrollwork at the bottom of the stand below borders of carved petal lappets
