WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN A LINE IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE RECTANGLE AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
Sturdily potted with low flaring sides, the interior divided by a three-peaked pen rest and painted with stylized cruciform clouds, some centered by ruyi heads, the two long sides of the exterior decorated with red and blue dragons confronting a flaming pearl, the ends painted with writhing front-faced five-clawed dragons, all above a band of classic scroll on the foot, the mouth rim applied with a broad gilt-metal band
