PROBABLY IMPERIAL, ATTRIBUTED TO THE PALACE WORKSHOPS, BEIJING, 1730-1820
Of high-shouldered, tapering form, intricately carved on one side with five boys wandering along the banks of a river, the reverse also with a riverside scene with four boys listening to another boy playing a qin, one narrow side carved with a pine tree growing amidst a rocky outcrop, the other narrow side with a plantain tree amidst a large ornamental 'water-hollowed' rock, the original stopper carved as a stylized chrysanthemum
