Details
Grange Hermitage--Vintage 1977
South Australia. Penfolds
Good labels. Levels: one into neck and one base of neck
The last Grange to be entered in Australian wine shows. By this time Grange was firmly established in Australia and had nothing further to gain from show success. The wine was also too easy to recognize. However, some more recent vintages of Grange have been entered into international competions.
Tasting note: deep crimson. Intense, developed and sweet gamey fruit with a touch of tar. A well rounded wine with complete roasted meat/gamey/tar flavours, loose knit tannins, good concentration and a firm finish. A.C.
