"(From a trio of Gevrey 1ers surrounding Mazis-Chambertin - Corbeaux, Fontenys and La Perrihre, the latter of which replaces the Petite Chapelle that was in the '99 - 5 1/2 barrels were produced). Leather, smoke and clear animale notes combine with crushed black fruit and fresh, vibrant, pure, medium weight flavors. The tannins are relegated to a supporting role by the intense, mouth coating old vine sap and this is both incredibly long and palate staining. This is breathtakingly good as the complexity and aromatic breadth is simply remarkable." BH
