Chevalier-Montrachet--Vintage 2001
Côte de Beaune, Niellon
"(from a .22 ha parcel of vines planted in 1962). A brilliantly intense nose of fresh citrus, spice, trace of toast and a hint of almonds lead to astonishingly precise flavors, of which the purity and flavor authority are nothing short of remarkable. The painfully intense finish delivers wet stone nuances, impressive focus and superbly elegant fruit/acid balance all underpinned by ripe acidity that cuts like a razor. A first-rate Chevalier worthy of the name and this is a great effort period but especially so for the vintage." BH
