A one-page typed letter of 16 lines, signed, from Chartwell, Westerham, Kent, 2 January 1947, to Sir Nevile Bland: "Thank you for the letter ... with the further information about the 'Pulchri Studio.' I have been giving very careful thought to the matter of my position with this organization and I really think, in view of Queen Wilhelmina's decision and attitude towards them, it would be prudent for me unostentaciously to withdraw my honorary membership" (annotated at head in another hand.)
