Maker's mark of Robert Sharp, London 1795, with thread rim, basket of flowers handle and engraved with contemporary coat of arms and crest, 26 x 23 cm. (10 1/4 x 9 in.), 1430 gr. (45.9 oz.)

Lot Essay

The arms and crest are those of Benson, granted to Moses Benson Esq., merchant of Liverpool. He was born 1738. He acquired a large fortune as a West Indies merchant, and purchased the estate of Lutwyche, Salop. He died in 1806
