A LARGE GEORGE III STERLING SILVER SHAPED CIRCULAR SALVER
Maker's mark of Samuel Hennell, London 1816, raised on four shell and lion's paw feet, and with bold shell, leaf and gadrooned rim and engraved contemporary coat of arms, 59 cm. (23 1/4 in.) diameter, approximately 5000 gr. (160 oz.)

Lot Essay

The crest and motto are those of Powell (of Nan-Eos, County Cardigan), probably for William Edward Powell, of Nant-Eos, H.M. Lieut. of Cardiganshire 1816-1854, M.P. Cardiganshire 1816-1854. Colonel Cardigan Militia. He was born 16 February 1788, died 1854
